This region is north of Sydney, bounded by the Hawkesbury River in the south, the Watagan Mountains in the west and the southern end of Lake Macquarie in the north. And it’s home to an amazing coastline, gorgeous national parks, laid-back coastal towns, countless lakes and beaches. Warning: most coffee shops close at 3 (laid-back coastal towns are called that for a reason).
Best place to stay on the Central Coast:

- mid-range: NRMA Ocean Beach Holiday Resort in Umina (southern Central Coast), Ibis Styles The Entrance (northern Central Coast)
- budget: Nightcap at Ocean Beach Hotel in Ettalong Beach (southern Central Coast), Blue Lagoon Beach Resort in The Entrance (northern Central Coast)
